English pianist Kelvin Grout began playing the piano at age four and won his first competition when he was just nine years old.
He studied as an accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where his teachers included David Wilde, Robin Bowman, Paul Hamburger and Graham Johnson. He participated in masterclasses with Gerard Souzay, Gerald Moore, Geoffrey Parsons, Elly Ameling and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
A professional career is not just built on the artistic inspiration of the artist. It takes much more than making music or acting: marketing, promotion, bookings and closing contracts are inextricably linked to an artistic career. Artists do not have the time to occupy themselves with the additional business side. The artist should concentrate on what he/she does best: make music, perform and recite with passion.
