Robbert van Steijn
Dutch conductor Robbert van Steijn studied piano at the Utrecht Conservatory of Music (Netherlands) with Håkon Austbö, and participated in masterclasses with Rosalyn Tureck, Peter Feuchtwanger and Claude Helffer. After completing his pianostudies he began his education in orchestral conducting with Jan Stulen, and completed his studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory of Music (Amsterdam) with Roland Kieft and Kenneth Montgomery. During this time he also had a training period with Günther Wand, and studied with George Hurst.
From 1997 until 2000 Robbert was principal conductor at the Hoofdstad Operette in Amsterdam, and conducted for Van den Ende Theatre Productions (Netherlands), as principal conductor, the productions of “Titanic, The Sound of Music and Sunset Boulevard”. In the Netherlands he also worked with the “Nationale Reisopera, Opera Trionfo, De Nederlandse Opera”, and conducted, among others, the “Orkest van het Oosten, the Noord Nederlands Orkest and the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest”. In 2011 he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival (Germany). During the 2011-2012 season Robbert van Steijn conducted at the “Nationale Reisopera” (Netherlands) the production of La Traviata.
