Steve Dugardin
As a talented countertenor, Steve Dugardin (1964, Oostende, Belgium) occupies a remarkable position in the world of music.
Beginning his musical studies at age fifteen with Aimée Thonon, he went on to study singing with Marie-Thérèse Maesen, assistant to Lucienne Van Dijck. With Van Dijck he graduated with a “First Prize Singing” at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Antwerp (Belgium). It was at the latter that he first met Erik Van Nevel, who awakened his interest in “Early Music”. Passionate about his art, Dugardin furthered his studies with British altus Ashley Stafford, Ingrid Voermans and Margreet Honig. Currently he studies – among others – with John Norris in Berlin.
