Carmelo Corrado Caruso
Italian baritone Carmelo Corrado Caruso started his vocal studies under the guidance of Roberto Federighi. After graduating at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome, he specialized with Luciano Bettarini and with Bianca Maria Casoni.
He attended several masterclasses with Alfredo Kraus, Leyla Gencer, Piero Cappuccilli, and, for the chamber music repertoire, with Mark Baker and Dalton Baldwin. He was the winner of numerous international competitions, including: the “Concorso As.Li.Co.” and the “Concorso Pergolesi di Roma” (1984), the Prize for Young Singers from the “Lirica Arena di Verona” (1985), the “Concorso Briccialdi in Terni” (1986/7) and the Concorso Viotti (1990) in Vercelli.
