Dutch soprano Anitra Jellema studied solo singing in the Netherlands at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music and at the Sweelinck Conservatory of Music Amsterdam, where she also took part in the Operaclass. In recent years she studied with Barbara Pearson, and is now coached by Ira Siff.
She made her operatic début as “Gräfin” in “Die beiden Figaro” by Konradin Kreutzer at the Neuburger Kammeroper (Germany). In the Netherlands she performed in 2006 “Der Rose Pilgerfahrt” with the “Radio Kamer Orkest” and she also participated in Schumann’s “Requiem für Mignon”, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Further Anitra performed the role of “Flora” in Verdi’s La Traviata, conducted by Arjan Tien, and could be heard as “Ingeborg” in Max Bruch’s “Szenen aus der Frithjofs-Sage”. She was also one of the soloists in the “Stabat Mater” by Abos, with the “Radio Kamer Filharmonie”, conducted by Frans Brüggen.
